This outfit may initially appear simple but an outfit that's put together well looks miles better than something intricate and put together badly. I particularly like the boots, they were the first thing that drew my attention thanks to my new-found shoe habit. Add in to this the slightly oversized shirt with the sleeves casually rolled up and we have a winning outfit for uni.

As an avid watcher of pre-Kristen The Hills (it just wasn’t the same without LC or Whitney) and The City, Whitney Port has always caught my eye due to her amazing ensembles. This is a girl who can take a simple dress and make it look stunning. She even makes jumpsuits – a trend I’d never dare to even contemplate attempting – look uber flattering.

Not only can she dress herself fashionably, but she also dresses other people fashionably. Well, she designs the clothes; it’s up to them how they use the pieces from her line. Whitney Eve is a beautiful range full of even more beautiful pieces. And an interview with Miss Port herself showed such this summer. I quite often avoid the Ibiza issue of Company magazine but was swayed to buy it this year, based solely on the fact Whitney was on the cover looking striking in a gorgeous blue dress (it doesn’t credit her cover outfit from my brief flick through but it’s stunning). I’ve added owning a piece from her collection to my list of things I want to achieve. Sorry Olivia (Whitney’s The City co-star who is often hailed as a style crush) but Whitney wins it for me.

All Apologies and an interior post

Hello everyone. Firstly let me apologise like mad about my distinct lack of updates for a while. I know, I know, bad blogger. I got caught up in fresher's week and the Christian Union events planning/advertising/running a surprising amount. Things are returning back to normal and I'm sure I'll soon return to spending my evenings twiddling my thumbs so I'll be persistently updating things here for you.

So, apology out of the way it's time for a "what Natasha bought" post with a slight twist. Tonight's post is not an item of jewellery or a pretty dress as it usually is. Tonight's post is about a very pretty bedside table.

A bedside table I hear you cry. She left us for all that time and now she's back to tell us about a table?!

But this is no ordinary bedside table. No, it doesn't lead to a magical land a'la Narnia (I wish). It is however an amazing find from a charity shop (and who doesn't love those?). Costing me just £25 from British Heart Foundation's Furniture Store I fell in love with this table as soon as I spotted it hidden away in the corner.

It looks/is vintage (we're not sure) and has both a cubby hole and cute little drawer complete with glass top. It's just what I needed for my uni room which hasn't got a bedside table. This is a problem for me because I like having certain things next/near to my bed such as water, pen and paper, my inhalors, glasses, mobile and ipod. I dislike leaving them on the floor in case I tread on them half asleep and break them, and I don't like leaving them on my windowsill because the blinds sometimes knock them off. A pretty table is the perfect solution.

I also bought a rather sweet picture from there for a barginous £5. In case you can't read the writing it says "Tree of love". It might not be a stunning piece of art like Picasso or Van Gough but in its own way it's really good, plus it's my kind of picture. I think the whole concept is adorable and the little blue heart branches/leaves are amazing. So this is also adorning my uni wall along with all my posters and collages.

So my uni loan went in this weekend and I may have indulged a bit. I wanted a few things for uni and needed a new jumper while I adjust to the northern temperatures (my fragile southern body can' take these winds!) So thanks to both stores brilliant 20% off for students at the moment I got both of these for a discounted price but I've listed the original store prices for you.

The jumper I bought is perfect for me. I like jumpers and jumper dresses but usually find them too thick to wear unless I'm gonna be stuck outside on a freezing cold day. However this one is long enough to wear with leggings and thin enough that I won't be desperate to take it off. Throw in my shearling boots and we have an outfit!

The 'dress' from Peacocks is a bit too short for me to wear as a full-on dress (I have a long torso) so I think I'll pair this with my jeans and wear it as a long top. I think the hook-eye detail on this makes it different from a lot of floral print tops and dresses I've seen before. Plus it's easy to pair with a cardi and ballet pumps or, for when the weather gets worse, my shearling boots. Not only that but I can dress it up with a pair of heels. Brilliant.

Street Style - Sunderland Uni

Wow so it's been a while since I've done one of these posts (the last one was circa Clothes Show London this summer) but I digress, this week as part of the Christian Union I've been on the main city campus for Uni flyering to let fresher's know that a) we exist and that b) we're putting on free events this week (whoooo for free stuff!)

Anyway, so I've had my camera with me all week but nothing really struck me until I saw this girl walk past with possibly the most brilliant outfit I've seen in a while...

Being the sucker for detail I am, I picked up immediately on her two-tone tights in black and brown (you can just about see a sliver of the black on this photo, apologies this is my fault) and her cool boots with giant colourful dots on them. Throw in the headscarf, cute bag and cardigan and an admittedly lovely lbd is transformed into an outfit of epic proportions.

And for the fact that fresher's make an effort in the first few weeks with their clothes makes it a lot more likely I'll chance upon a few more Street Styles to post before everyone reverts to jeans and a hoody so keep your eyes peeled!

"You look like a ballerina"

So I rejoined official student life approximately a week ago. And within the first two days of arriving back in Sunderland where was I but student-on-a-budget-haven Primark? I picked up this top/dress along with a few other bits and bobs. I adore the light peach/pink colour of this piece, and the sheer material of the skirt (hint: if wearing as a dress, wear with leggings over tights unless you fancy taking the whole 'underwear as outerwear' trend quite literally). It's a simple outfit and because it's a lovely nude colour you can jazz it up easily with colour pop accessories or strong metals - silver or gold. I usually colour pop, especially with the nails for this one.

I'm not quite sure why but this top/dress makes me think of Pixie Lott circa "Gravity" video.

Zip It

Apologies for the none-too-creative title...

So as of Saturday I became a fully-fledged uni student again. Which means full-fledged uni student budgeting. Which means Primark visits. Today Katie and I did a bit of shopping (in a semi-downpour, which is a bad idea people) and this is one of my new headbands.

Now regular readers will be aware that I have a slight headband obsession. So when I chanced upon this particular headband today I immediately wanted it. Similar to one I saw in Accessorize for £10, I thought £1.50 for this one was a bargain in comparison! And thus, the headband ended up in the basket and on my head as I type this :)

Black and gold are two colours that, generally, go really well together. Plus I adore the zip detailing (I am a sucker for cute detailing).
